2026 is already flying by!

Hey everyone,

Seems like it was only a couple of days ago I got back from Buchla & Friends 2026. It was a cool show, and a huge intersection of what is happening across the modular landscape. Regrettably, I did not have much free time to wander around and take in all the new toys coming out. But what I did see was very cool.

Speaking of the website, it has gone through a bit of an update since the beginning of the year. This is to better reflect the latest (final) changes to the new modules and the finished panel designs. There is an overview of each module, and each is available in 5U/DotCom format as well as Eurorack.

The “Shop” page is still in the works, but please use the contact form if you are interested in purchasing modules. And speaking of shops, I’m proud to announce that Otter Mods is available at Perfect Circuit! I just shipped out an order to them a few days ago, and the modules are already on the webstore. If you find yourself at Perfect Circuit and spot our modules, can you share on Instagram with the #ottermodular tag?

Otter Mods also has an interested party at Noisebug. We are still working things out, but that could be a future venue to find the large format modules. Stay tuned.

There are still plenty of things in the works for the rest of 2026. I need to get some demo videos made for each of the modules. Subdivide Mk2, the clock divider, is pretty straightforward, but there are some fun things you can do with it. One of the things I have not gotten a chance to try is running a VCO through it to get a sub-oscillator.

Another thing on the to-do list is the user guide for each module. I’ve started some rough drafts, but need to pull together the function walk throughs and panel references. This may end up being done before the demo vids. Some of the modules are not quite straightforward, such as OTTeR. The full name alone can be a conundrum as well as a mouthful - Oscillating Temporal Tessellation Repeater. This guy is a pattern generator at its core, but that is just scratching the surface, hence the reason why I need to finish the user guide.

The fun will keep going when I switch back into developer mode, hopefully in the next couple of months. There are a couple of modular designs I want to pick back up where I left off. One is a precision adder that will have some fun applications. Another is finalizing my matrix mixer design. I’m sure there will be more designs to emerge as time moves on. I am aiming to send out a newsletter on a quarterly basis (perhaps closer to monthly if I can stay on top of things). Thanks for all the support in getting Otter Mods running. I will be sure to let you all know when I will be attending any shows.
